These packages (actually cages!) contain around 3lbs of Russian hybrids, and a young queen. In our experience the Russian bees build up slower in the Spring and are a bit more ornery than the Italian strains. However, they tend to be more resilient to the Varroa mites which is trait we very much appreciate as we attempt to raise our bees free of chemicals.
